I have been a practising paediatric Occupational Therapist since 2012, and I am dedicated to empowering children and young adults to embrace their independence and build confidence. I started my paediatric OT journey in a special school setting, working with children with physical disabilities. I spent 6 wonderful years there, before moving into the private practice world, working for two amazing women. It was in private practice that I really started to develop my passion and interest in Autism, ADHD and neurodiversity in general (spoiler alert - this is because I am neurodivergent myself - I just didn't know it yet). I have a play-based approach to therapy and strongly believe that therapy must be fun and enjoyable for it to be effective. As an AuDHD woman (someone who is Autistic and has ADHD), I have a good understanding of the complexities of neurodivergence, and how difficult it can be living in a world which is designed for neurotypical people. I practice Neuro-Affirming therapy, which means that I have a strength-based approach to developmental differences and value all different kinds of brains and ways of thinking and being.
I am a passionate advocate for my clients and work closely with families, schools/childcares and other professionals to ensure that my clients have the necessary supports in place to achieve their goals and to love and value themselves as they are.
Fees and Rebates(the boring stuff): You do not need a referral to receive Occupational Therapy services, but there are a variety of different funding assistance sources which can be used to support your child's therapy, including Medicare rebates, Private Healthcare rebates and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).Please note, I am only able to assist children whose NDIS plans are Plan Managed or Self-Managed and unfortunately cannot see clients if their funding is managed by the NDIA.
Medicare rebates can be provided through the following plans: 10958 – Enhanced Primary Care Plan/Chronic Disease Management Plan (approximately $52.95)
